The Simpsons: 10 Best Nameless Characters

6. Shelby's Dad

The Simpsons Blue Haired Lawyer
FOX

The rivalry between Springfield and Shelbyville is a long and bitter one, seemingly founded on the legality of marrying your cousins.

In “Lemon of Troy” the rivalry comes to a head when Springfield’s lemon tree is stolen and taken across the border into Shelbyville. Bart and his team of school chums must infiltrate enemy territory and retrieve the sacred tree.

The episode’s main villain is Shelby, a boy who bears a striking resemblance to Bart, which extends to his skateboarding prowess, graffiti skills, and even having his own Milhouse. And as you’d expect, Shelby’s dad resembles Homer, only with a bit more hair and a hillbilly drawl.

Shelby’s dad has some of the episode’s best moments. His wonderful opening line, spoken to Homer, is "You must be stupider than you look." And then there's the iconic Simpsons image of him taunting the Springfield contingent by biting into one of the stolen lemons, his smug expression contorting into an eye-watering grimace.

When Bart and Homer steal back the tree, all Shelby’s dad can advise his son to do is to keep shaking his fist.
