The Simpsons: 10 Best Star Wars References

5. Bart and Lisa Meet "George Lucas"

While Bart and Lisa don't exactly meet George Lucas himself in season fifteen's Co-Dependent's Day, it's clear that Cosmic Wars creator Randall Curtis is meant to represent Lucas, at least in the world of The Simpsons. Cosmic Wars also has fallen awry in all the same ways that the real life Star Wars franchise has: tepid prequels, despised characters (Jim-Jam instead of Jar-Jar), and years and years of needless tinkering with movies that were perfectly fine to begin with. When Bart and Lisa call out Curtis on it, Star Wars fans watching no doubt let slip a little cry of joy. Though South Park actually beat them to the punch with 2002's Free Hat, it cannot be said enough: tinkering with the series is just plain dumb. Showing Lucas, or, well, Curtis, as an extremely small man riding a Tauntaun might seem a bit childish in the end, but they still got their point across.
