The Simpsons: 10 Best Treehouse Of Horror Episodes

The very first Simpsons Halloween episode will always hold a special place in our hearts. Arguably one of the best episodes of season two, this kicked off one of the longest running Simpson trends in style, and if it wasn't for this being so brilliant, we wouldn't have even gotten to see any of the subsequent episodes.

The episode, just the 16th in Simpsons history, framed the three segments exactly as they should be, scary children's stories. Though they may not be the most adventurous, or intricate of segments the show has ever produced, they are the epitome of simple done very, very well.

'Bad Dream House' is a classic haunted house tale, with the twist of the house ultimately being more scared of spending an eternity with the Springfield family than the other way around. 'Hungry are the Damned' is a similar take on a classic Halloween theme, again ending with the aliens turning out to be the good guys, and the Simpsons the bad.

The best segment however is 'The Raven'. Though it is little more than a Simpsonised retelling of Edgar Allen-Poe's classic story of the same name, it is injected with enough of Homer's humour to make it incredibly enjoyable. This would have been the case even without the narration of James Earl Jones, who could simply read out the phone book and we'd listen intently to every single word.
