The Simpsons: 10 Best Treehouse Of Horror Episodes

8. Treehouse of Horror II The Simpsons Jack In The Box Treehouse of Horror II is one of the few episodes to have each story center around a theme and that's part of what makes it so great. Upon returning from a night of trick-or-treating Marge warns her children and husband that devouring too much candy will yield nightmares but her words are only mocked. Lisa is the first to experience terror as she dreams up the classic tale, "The Monkey's Paw." The segment is rather predictable in its plot but delivers the laughs. Bart's nightmare - "The Bart Zone" puts us in a creepy atmosphere in a take on a "Twilight Zone" episode. Bart is completely omniscient and can warp reality to his will. Why this is a nightmare for him is at first unexplained but hilariously ends with him screaming as he wakes from what turns into a loving father/son relationship with Homer. The final segment deals with Homer's nightmare as he becomes a victim of mad Mr. Burns' even more mad science experiment. Though most of you have probably seen the episode, I won't spoil the surprise ending, as it's a treat you should experience firsthand. It's not just the stories, but the way in which they are presented that lands Treehouse of Horror II on the list.
