The Simpsons: 10 Characters Who Could Definitely Be Killed Off

1. Abe Simpson

Grampa SimpsonVoiced By: Dan Castellaneta Emmy Winning Episodes: "Mr Plow" Officially, Dan Castellaneta won the Emmy for Mr Plow predominantly for his Homer work, (and likewise for his Krusty work in "Today I Am A Clown," but the nomination officially included Abe, so he sneaks into the running. Chances Of Dying? Some might say that the smart money would be on ageing Abe Simpson to die, but removing the family's whipping boy would be a terrible idea, even if it sometimes feels like he's pushed out to being an afterthought. Abe represents something important to the show, showing that while Homer's lack of parenting skills can sometimes be attributed to comical ineptitude, he can have a genuinely nasty streak when it comes to having to care about his father, and their dynamic is a good way to reflect the real life prospect of caring for loved ones well beyond their Best By date. Plus, Abe is basically invincible: he's incontinent, uninsurable and so far he has survived a major heart attack, as well as kidney explosions, and once memorably confessed to slipping in and out of comas all the time. Sadly, there's a nagging suspicion that Al Jean and co might not feel the same way, and the dynamic between Homer and Abe would make for a genuinely heart-breaking episode, based on Homer's guilt, and the unlikely realisation that he needs his father. That doesn't mean it's the best idea however. How He Should Die Neglect would be the most emotionally impacting death, but the comical conclusion would be for Abe's many, many lies about his encounters with Adolf Hitler to turn out to be true, and for the still-alive Fuhrer to come back for vengeance.
