The Simpsons: 10 Episodes That Would Have Made Perfect Endings
2. Lisa's Wedding
The first of the future episodes is undeniably the best, from its frank and honest assessment of where The Simpsons are likely to end up years from now to finding more and more contrived ways to stop teenage Maggie from speaking on-screen. Bart To The Future is a little dismal in its predictions about the Springfieldians's collective fates. Lisa's Wedding, meanwhile, feels like it could tip over into tragedy Lisa's future husband turns out to be a snob who despises her family, meaning the titular nuptials are eventually called off. That third act twist is what makes the episode, though, and what makes it the ideal finale. If they'd had the balls, anyway. The balls, and less greed. Lisa's Wedding proves that the Simpson family wasn't something the genius daughter had to outgrow. Despite all her achievements, she's still one of them, and for once that isn't a bad thing. Again, everyone gets nice character moments, and the core of the show is reaffirmed in a lovely way to ties everything up.
