The Simpsons: 10 Greatest Rock Star Moments

1. Jagger, Richards, Petty, Costello, Kravitz, Setzer (S14 E02 “How I Spent My Strummer Vacation”)

After secretly being filmed confessing his familial woes in a taxi one evening, Homer’s family find out how he really feels about letting his childhood dreams go, in favour of marriage and fatherhood.

The Simpson family, though offended at first, decide to show their appreciation for the patriarch by sending him off to Rock N’ Roll Fantasy Camp, "where you'll experience the complete rock n' roll lifestyle without the lawsuits and STDs".

Here, a slew of rock legends, including Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Tom Petty, Elvis Costello, Lenny Kravitz and Brian Setzer, lead Homer and the rest of Springfield’s middle-aged misfits in lessons on how to live life like a rock star.

As camp leaders, Jagger and Richards steal the show with their tutorial on how to escape from a gaggle of groupies, to their lesson on how to perfect the Jagger strut.

Meanwhile, Petty provides a master class in lyric writing, and Kravitz give the guys some much needed styling tips, where elsewhere, Costello hands out instruments, and Setzer teaches the fundamentals of guitar playing. Though Homer ultimately realises his life isn't that bad, this episode, with its top musical guests and engaging dialogue, is every rock lover's dream, providing the greatest rock star moments thus far on the series.
