The Simpsons: 10 Major Plot-Holes Everyone Ignores

8. The Old Simpson Farm

The Simpsons Unky Herb Homer

Homer’s home life has been subject to a few different backstories but, the ages and era aside, they can all just about fit into one very colourful childhood. Part of that backstory is the old Simpson farm, where Homer spent part of his youth, until he spooked the cows and turned their milk sour.

We first see the farm in Grampa Vs Sexual Inadequacy, when the Simpson and Son love tonic hits the road. Despite having a great product, the pair of them fight incessantly and end up splitting up. Both ignited by a spirit of nostalgia when they realise they miss each other, they separately return to the old Simpson farm.

They’re soon ignited by something else though, as both of the buffoons each set the house on fire, only discovering the other is there when they race outside to avoid the flames.

Later though, when Homer becomes a Tomacco farmer, he returns to the old Simpson farm, to find it decidedly not burnt down. It’s unlikely it could be saved in such a rural area, and with the state its in, it clearly hasn’t been rebuilt. Maybe in the actual continuity, the episodes happen the opposite order than they aired.
