The Simpsons: 10 Most Hated Characters

Every other character on this list is either a main character, or at the very least recurring. Lady Gaga is neither, having only appeared in season 23’s 'Lisa Goes Gaga', but that one appearance was so poorly received that she simply has to make an appearance on this list.

The problem is that Lady Gaga was so much more than a character in the show. To many her appearance was everything that is wrong with The Simpsons in the modern day. Whereas in previous years a special guest would be brought in to bolster an already strong episode, this highlighted just how much the show relied on the star power of its guests above actual writing.

The entire story was based around how Lady Gaga telepathically felt that Lisa was feeling down and so headed to Springfield, with the rest of the episode being little more than trying to make sight gags out of her costumes.

There is a reason this is by far the worst-rated episode of The Simpsons on IMDb. This was the realisation of just how far the series had fallen from grace, and while it was in no way Lady Gaga’s fault, she became the face of the downfall. Even in spite of the fact The Simpsons had been on a steady decline for well over a decade at this point, this moment was when so many fans had enough.
