The Simpsons: 10 Most Hated Characters

3. Patty & Selma Bouvier

The Simpsons Lady Gaga
Fox

For the record, this writer will only refer to Patty and Selma both as Bouvier, in spite of the latter’s six-barrelled surname, for hopefully obvious reasons. Selma’s marriages, and the reason behind each of them (very few of them actually being love), are just one facet that makes up a very detestable set of twins.

Early on there is a very strong ugly step-sister vibe from Marge’s sisters, though these are her actual sisters. Along with her mother, and for one very strange flashback in which her father appears to be in her life, Marge’s sisters never offered any kind of support.

Openly disapproving of Homer, mocking him, relishing in his failures to provide a better life for Marge, and even trying to set her up with another man while her husband was in a coma, Patty and Selma aren’t exactly great sister material. In fact, as the title of this article would suggest, they are downright hateful.

Their mean-spiritedness doesn’t stop with Homer either. They are rude, mean, and cruel to just about everyone they meet, unless they can share in their hatred of Homer which is even worse. Patty is arguably worse than Selma, who at least tried to show some compassion, but was often subdued by her controlling sister.
