The Simpsons: 10 Potential Ways It Could End
2. A Single Flash-Forward Episode
The Ending:
Rather than opting for a season to demonstrate the passage of time, what about a 42-minute double-episode which unambiguously shows how The Simpsons end their lives, in Six Feet Under-esque fashion?
Why They Could Use It:
It'd finally put all the arguments to bed and give The Simpsons a canonical finale, while also hopefully employing enough visual gags to imply various off-screen moments (such as who marries who), and also what happens to the supporting characters.
Why They Might Not:
For one, it's rather morbid to show everyone getting old and shuffling off the mortal coil, but secondly, even a 42-minute episode is really not enough time to tie everything up and give every iconic character a proper goodbye. If this is their strategy, a feature film farewell makes more sense.
