25. "Homer the Smithers" S7 E17
Couch Gag: The Simpsons wear fezzes and drive to the couch on mini-cars
Plot: When Smithers takes a vacation he recommends Homer to Mr Burns as his replacement. Homer proves so incompetent Burns berates him at every opportunity until Homer snaps and punches Mr Burns. When Smithers returns he finds Mr Burns is now self-reliant and is promptly fired. Fortunately Mr Burns becomes dependent on Smithers again after being thrown out of a window during an epic smack down between Homer and Smithers.
Best Gag: Smithers: ''I've got to find a replacement who won't outshine me. Perhaps if i search the employee evaluations for the word incompetent. 714 names? Better be more specific. Lazy, clumsy, dim-witted, monstrously ugly. (computer still displays 714 names) Ah nuts to this I'll just get Homer Simpson''
24. "Cape Feare" S5 E2
Chalkboard Gag: The cafeteria deep fryer is not a toy
Plot: In this episode Sideshow Bobs return sees the Simpsons enter a witness protection programme complete with new names. However Sideshow Bob follows them to their houseboat intent on killing Bart once and for all.
Best Gag: The FBI trying to give Homer a false name: ''Tell you what sir, from now on you'll be, uh, Homer Thompson at Terror Lake. Let's just practice a bit hmm? When i say 'Hello Mr Thompson' you'll say hi'' ''Check'' ''Hello Mr Thompson'' (Homer stares blankly) ''Remember now, your name is Homer Thompson'' ''I gotcha'' ''Hello Mr Thompson'' (Homer stares blankly - cut to a few hours laters, ties are off and smoke hangs in the air) ''Now when i say 'Hello Mr Thompson' and press down on your foot, you smile and nod'' ''No problem'' ''Hello Mr Thompson (FBI agent stamps on Homers foot who looks blankly at the other agent) ''I think he's talking to you''
23. "Mr. Plow" S4 E9
Chalkboard Gag: A burp is not an answer
Plot: After heavy snowfall Homer buys a snow plow and starts plowing peoples driveways. Inspired by Homers success Barney Gumble buys his own plow and starts a rival company which quickly puts Homer out of business.
Best Gag: Homer: ''Now we play the waiting game...ahh, the waiting game sucks...let's play Hungry Hungry Hippos!''
22. "The Wizard of Evergreen Terrace" S10 E2
Chalkboard Gag: I will not file frivolous lawsuits.
Plot: Homer has a midlife crisis after hearing the average life expectancy for men is now 76.2 years which means his life is half over (being 38.1 years old) Deciding he hasnt accomplished anything he begins to admire and follow in the footsteps of Thomas Edison and becomes an inventor.
Best Gag: Homer demonstrating his 'inventions' which includes a make-up gun (''For those ladies that only have three fifths of a second to get ready...'') But Lisa is unimpressed: ''Dad, woman won't like being shot in the face'' ''Woman will like what i tell them to like''
21. "Lisa on Ice" S6 E8
Chalkboard Gag: I will not dissect things unless instructed
Plot: After finding out she is danger of failing a class for the first time (gym) Lisa opts to join an ice hockey team and finds out that not only is she very good but shes also up against Barts ice hockey team. Their rivalry is compounded considerably by Homer.
Best Gag: Marge trying to stop Bart and Lisa fighting before Homer contradicts her: ''I don't care who started it. I don't ever want to see you two fighting like that ever again. We love you both; You are not in competition with each. Repeat. You are not in competition with each other''...''Hey Apu just called. This Friday, Lisa's team is playing Bart's team. You're in direct competition. And don't go easy on each other just because you're brother and sister. I want to see you both fighting for your parents' love! Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight!''
