The Simpsons: 15 Best Ever TV Show Parodies & Homages

2. The Flintstones

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mUxmq7um9_I Seen in: Marge vs. The Monorail (Season 4, Episode 12) The Simpsons often used to be described as a modern-day version of The Flintstones, as both feature a blue-collar American family in an animated sitcom world. The Simpsons had to pay homage to its spiritual predecessor at least once then - and it made a classic Simpsons moment in the process. Many of these parodies have featured Simpsons-style takes on TV show openings but the best of these is hands down their spoof of The Flintstones. The parody sees Homer racing home from work just like Fred Flintstone (including sliding along a pipe instead of a Brontosaurus' neck) and highlights some of the several similarities between the two shows. The Simpsons has gone on to reference The Flintstones many other times, including a great joke about Homer seeing a tiny flying alien that no one else can - just like Fred did in later Flintstones episodes, once the show had jumped the shark.
