The Simpsons: 15 Best Ever TV Show Parodies & Homages
3. The Twilight Zone
Seen in: Treehouse of Horror II (Season 3, Episode 7) The Twilight Zone might have the distinction of being the TV series that The Simpsons has spoofed the most. Particularly in the early years, nearly every Treehouse Of Horror episode would have at least one segment that was a parody of a famous instalment of the sci-fi/horror anthology series. The segments titled Hungry Are The Damned, Lisa's Nightmare, Clown Without Pity, Terror At 5 1/2 Feet, Homer3, The Genesis Tub and Stop The World, I Want To Goof Off are all based or draw off Twilight Zone episodes. The one that is most recognisably a parody of that show, however, is Bart's Nightmare from Treehouse Of Horror II. In a riff on It's A Good Life, Bart has reality-warping powers which means he rules Springfield like a god. Bart even turns Homer into a jack-in-the-box, just as little Anthony Freemont does in the original episode. The segment even has some opening narration in the style of Rod Serling's ominous voiceovers in The Twilight Zone.
