At the start of The Simpsons current season (number 26, facts fans), Itchy and Scratchy finally graced the fabled couch gag at the beginning of the episode. While not as extensive as recent standout couch gags (by such celebrated animators as Sylvain Chomet and John Kricfalusi), it was still a classic slice of humorous violence.

Getting home to find Itchy once again attacking Scratchy on their couch, Homer intervenes and actually saves the cat! However, Scratchy's loutish behaviour around the house convinces Homer to let Itchy have a go at him anyway. Landlords and ladies take note - setting loose a murderous mouse is a good way to get rid of a messy lodger.
