The Simpsons - All 15 Christmas Episodes Ranked
4. Simpsons Roasting On An Open Fire
The original. The episode that started it all (unless, of course, you count the Tracey Ullman years).
Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire probably had a huge impact on you if you were old enough to watch it back when the show first came out. It was, of course, the premiere episode of the Fox series, aired as a Christmas special on December 17, 1989 - making it the only full length Simpsons episode on television in the 80s (it was actually the 8th episode of the show to be produced, which may have helped its tone a little).
By today's standards, the animation is a little washed out, the voices a little off, and the show hadn't fully found its footing - but it still got the series off to a roaring start.
It also introduced us to how the family acquired Santa's Little Helper, the clan's beloved pet Greyhound. As stories go, it remains a moving one, especially Homer's speech about their newfound mutt: "But he's a loser. He's pathetic. He's... a Simpson."
