The Simpsons: Every Season Ranked Worst To Best
11. Season 9
Season 9 opens with the all-time classic "The City of New York vs. Homer Simpson," and only gets better as the season goes on. In the Treehouse of Horror special, Bart turns into a fly, and later Christmas is ruined when Bart burns down the family tree and blames a burglar.
We also get the first appearance of Duffman, and the school kids get trapped on an island in an ingenious homage to Lord of the Flies. Even with the controversial reveal that Skinner stole another man's identity, season 9 is pure joy.
The best episode of the season is "Dumbbell Indemnity," in which Moe falls in love and Homer gets thrown in jail trying to scam money to fund the bartender's love life. For my money, it's the funniest episode of the show.
