The Simpsons: Every Season Ranked Worst To Best

6. Season 8

The Simpsons
20th Television

Season 8 touches on a lot of tough subject matter, from homophobia to corporate greed, but is intelligent and insightful enough to always have something of artistic meaning to say. Take "Homer's Phobia," in which Homer shuns an old friend because of his sexuality. Not only is the episode funny, but it's message is well-crafted and meaningful.

In a lot of ways, "Homer's Phobia" sums up season 8 beautifully. There are many great episodes, including one where Lisa loses her mind babysitting Bart and another which has Homer become the face of a Japanese laundry detergent, and each of them tackle their themes with an equal measure of thoughtfulness and hilarity.

Season 8 doesn't put a foot wrong, and forever deserves to be seen as one of the show's greatest efforts.
