The Simpsons: Every Sideshow Bob Episode Ranked Worst To Best

11. Gone Boy (Season 29, Episode 9)

The Simpsons Cape Feare
Fox

Gone Boy suffers in the way many of Sideshow Bob's lesser efforts suffer, in that it offers no real variation on his zany murder plan and ends with a whimper, but even so the lead up to the final act is quite fun.

After Bart goes missing, Homer and Marge band together to hunt him down, whilst Bob plots to kill Bart and Milhouse by detonating them atop an old missile.

Kelsey Grammer in particular shines this time around, selling Bob's conflicted nature with surprisingly genuine pathos that leads to a sweet (if annoyingly rushed) reconciliation between the would-be murderer and his arch nemesis.

Leaning into Bob's defining traits -- his hysterical fear of rakes, his brief detours into schizophrenia -- Gone Boy is digestible fun that tries something new and mostly succeeds. And to be honest, it's worth watching for Bob acting like a puppet alone.
