The Simpsons: Every Sideshow Bob Episode Ranked Worst To Best
13. Treehouse Of Horror XXVI
Given his status as the town’s most bloodthirsty resident, it’s surprising Sideshow Bob took so long to pop up in a Treehouse Of Horror segment. For fans of the character, the first half of this segment will be just what the doctor ordered, as Krusty’s former sidekick finally gets to kill Bart Simpson.
Early in the episode, Bob manages to murder his foe with a spear gun, believing he’ll now be able to get on with his life. But (in a concept explored better in a later episode) he finds that his existence lacks meaning without his nemesis, and so devises a machine to bring Bart back to life in order to murder him over and over again.
It’s a neat concept that runs out quite quickly. Bob murders Bart in a number of different ways, some more amusing than others, but none particularly imaginative. In due course, the Simpsons turn the tables and vanquish Bob once more.
The segment is enjoyable enough, but lacking any great moments or big laughs. You can’t help but wonder what a Sideshow Bob Treehouse Of Horror episode might have been like had they made one in the show’s prime.
