The Simpsons: Homer's 10 Best Jobs So Far

Homer Simpson's Ten best Jobs Ever

When he isn't causing a potentially fatal nuclear meltdowns in Sector 7-G of the Power plant due to his own negligence, stuffing his face with doughnuts, swilling Duff Beer or throttling his son, Homer Simpson has somehow found time to change his career path on more than one occasion. In fact, in the first 400 episodes of the multi-award-winning TV show, Simpson's creator Matt Groening has stated that Homer amassed 188 jobs! That's quite a lot for somebody with, shall we just say, so many extracurricular activities. Here, WhatCulture examines the top ten jobs Homer Simpson has held since the shows inception in 1989 - from musician to astronaut - and how they all went so horribly wrong. D'oh!

10. Bodyguard for Mayor Quimby - Episode: "Mayored To The Mob"

"Homer Simpson, Nerd Buster, and I'm getting you out of here!" When Homer steps in to defend Mark Hamill and Mayor Quimby from a nerd-riot at the Springfield Bi-Monthly-Sci-Fi-Con, his "Nerd Beating" skills impress Mayor Quimby so much that he fires his own incompetent bodyguards and hires Homer instead. The power soon goes to Homers head however, as he takes the job a little too seriously. When he stumbles upon local mobster Fat Tony's black market of rat-milking at Springfield Elementary, he demands Quimby put a stop to it, but the cowardly Mayor is worried about the repercussions that would bring from Tony and his Goons. Later that night, Homer takes Quimby to the Springfield Diner Theater, where Guys And Dolls is being performed. D'oh! How It Goes Wrong Fat Tony and his goons are of course present, and attempt to assassinate Quimby. Homer manages to fight them off, but can't prevent Tony from beating up the Mayor and putting him in hospital.
