8. Chief of Police - Episode: "Poppas Got A Brand New Badge"
During a heatwave, Homer plugs in a singing and dancing Santa to try to make the family feel less hot. Unfortunately, this causes a blackout in Springfield, and looting commences. The local Police force are too inept to prevent the looting, and when Homer steps in to stop Snake shooting Apu in an armed robbery at the Quick-e-mart, he thinks he has found his true calling and sets up his own police force called "Springshield" with Lenny and Carl. Meanwhile, Mayor Quimby has grown tired of Chief Wiggum and his incompetence, and hands over all police duties to Homer. Later on, Springshield busts Fat Tony after finding that he has been selling weasels with cotton stuck to them as toy poodles. Fat Tony vows revenge.
D'oh! How It Goes Wrong Fat Tony announces over the radio that unless Homer leaves town by noon, he will be gunned down. In Church, Homer asks for protection, but only Ned Flanders is willing to stand by him, whom Homer tells to shut up. Lenny and Carl lock themselves in the police station jail so they are safe from Fat Tony. Tony later arrives at the Simpson's house at noon as promised to gun Homer down, but is injured in a hail of bullets. Chief Wiggum steps forward, but claims it wasn't him who fired. It is later revealed that Maggie had a rifle and shot Fat Tony from her upstairs window!
