Fast forward over 30 years and the Simpsons is still going strong, and has recently been renewed for its 31st and 32nd series, set to include the landmark 700th episode. Granted, it is long past its prime, but no one foresaw the powerhouse that The Simpsons would evolve into.
Leaving such an impressive stamp on television history, one of the many reasons that The Simpsons continued to find success is due to the brilliant one-time characters, and a whole host of recurring background characters that helped punctuate each and every episode.
