The Sopranos: Ranking Every Main Character Worst To Best
14. Janice Soprano
It’s worth noting that Janice is supposed to be an irritant for Tony and those around her, and she’s perfectly portrayed by Aida Turturro as a vain, spiteful, opportunistic woman who’s just as big a thorn in her brother’s side as any of his actual professional rivals.
Sometimes, though, her grating qualities are just a little too successful. Janice has a propensity for shacking up with the show’s least sympathetic side characters - Richie, Ralphie. When she has her fill of that, she weasels her way into Bobby’s life, shaking up the family of one of The Sopranos’ sweetest figures. That she does so by way of a ouija board, frightening Bobby’s kids following the death of their mother, makes her all the more villainous.
Janice is often presented as the kind of antagonistic figure who somehow always gets away with everything by virtue of her statement. When her reckoning does come, it’s brutal beyond belief. While it would be unfair to say she deserves it, with Janice the other shoe was always going to drop eventually.
