The Umbrella Academy: 10 Questions Season 3 MUST Answer
8. Is Hazel (And Cha-Cha) Really Dead?
Of all the Commission's operatives, Hazel was easily the best. His weariness of the job had caught up with him and he just wanted to live a life that didn't involve killing people he had no reason to. He ultimately found that with Agnes, leaving partner Cha-Cha behind to die in the apocalypse.
Fans were thrilled to see him return in the opening scene of Season 2 to save Five, heartbroken by the fact that Agnes died of cancer and destroyed by his sudden death moments later.
Sure, many of us were happy to hear that he lived the life he wanted, but it did feel a little unnecessary to kill him off in such a meaningless way. You'd think a character like Hazel would get a more triumphant send-off (instead of being gunned down in the street when he wasn't the target). But could that have been intentional?
With Five and the others having changed history and restoring a version of the timeline, could Hazel have been saved after all?
It may be tricky trying to write around that since he seemingly lived his last twenty years outside of the timeline, but stranger things have happened for this show. And on that note, since Cha-Cha was killed in the original apocalypse, wouldn't she now be alive too?
