The Umbrella Academy Season 2: 10 Shocking Comic Moments That Must Happen

2. Rumour Assassinates The President - The Umbrella Academy: Dallas

The JFK assassination is the single most controversial part of the entire Umbrella Academy franchise. It takes from real conspiracy theories thrown around at the time of JFK's murder, that speculated the convicted shooter, Lee Harvey Oswald, was not the real killer, and that the actual criminal was still at large. In the Umbrella Academy, we see that in this universe, it's not Oswald who kills the president, but rather Allison Hargreeves, also known as the Rumour.

Allison is blackmailed with the threat of Number Five and Luthor's deaths into using her powers - which can make anything she says real - to kill Kennedy in cold blood, in the dramatic climax of the Dallas storyline.

The potential cover for this issue this moment was contained in brought yet more controversy, as Gerard Way and his wife did a photo recreation of the event that was intended to be emblazoned on the front of the comic, before this was, understandably, changed.

Despite its contentious nature, this is also a moment that fully deserves to be in the series, as it's undeniably one of the most surprising events in the entire franchise up to date.
