The Umbrella Academy Season 2: Ranking EVERY Character From Worst To Best

Though few of us actually realised it until about three quarters of the way through, Vanya Hargreeves ended up being at the center of The Umbrella Academy's first season.

Her story this time around is very different, but it's not without its similarities. She once again finds herself without knowledge of certain events but, in the process, learns more about herself. The reason that it works better this time is down to the fact that she's not being manipulated by a less interesting character and the things she's learning about herself aren't about her powers.

Is the amnesia subplot a little bit frustrating? Absolutely, as it feels like a convenience thrown in to delay the inevitable for a full season, but it does make way for some wonderful character moments. Vanya's relationship with Sissy is perhaps the most engaging of the season as it comes off as a very real story, while this ultimately influences her to control her powers in a way that Leonard never wanted her to - essentially making her arc a complete inversion of the first season's.

There's still so much potential in Vanya waiting to be explored, but for the most part, Season 2 took it in a really interesting direction. More than that, it gave her some long overdue happiness (and allowed her siblings to finally see her) and that's undoubtedly a great thing.
