The Umbrella Academy Season 2: What Does The Ending Really Mean?
1. The Timeline Has Been Altered
That brings us to the real kicker... the mother of all cliffhangers (and considering last season's was an apocalypse, that's really saying something).
Five, Allison, Luther, Diego, Klaus and Vanya's celebrations were cut short when they discovered that something was wrong with the timeline. Not only was their father (the man responsible for reuniting them with his death in the first season) still alive, he didn't create the Umbrella Academy. Instead, he created the Sparrow Academy: A completely different line-up of youthful heroes. Well, almost completely different.
Somehow, someway, Ben - the very same Ben who had just crossed over after spending 17 years as a ghost - was also alive... and he didn't look too happy to see the siblings he clearly didn't recognise.
It's clear that the Umbrella Academy's actions in the 1960s have altered their own timeline beyond recognition or they've created some kind of offshoot timeline that they don't belong in. Either way, their father recognised them even if the mansion was no longer their house... so it's safe to say that their earlier meetings with him impacted his future a great deal.
Whatever happens next, Season 3 looks set to be very interesting.
