The US Office: 10 Worst Episodes

8. Lotto - Season 8 Episode 3

The Office Worst Episode
NBC

This episode focuses primarily on Darryl and his depression after his warehouse colleagues all win the lottery and subsequently quit their jobs (in spectacular fashion may I add). Since he opted out of the lotto pool after he was promoted, Darryl is left with nothing; making him wonder whether he is making the right decisions in his life. With the warehouse staff away, Jim, Erin, Kevin and Dwight are tasked to take over until replacements are found.

What sucks: Although this episode isn't particularly awful, the problem is that it is incredibly forgettable. The makeshift warehouse crew of Kevin and co had the potential to be hilarious but instead it had very few funny moments and Darryl's mood, although understandable, gets tiresome over the full 20 minutes. Also, the funniest moment from Jim and Dwight in the warehouse is criminally omitted from the final cut and only available in the deleted scenes.

What doesn't suck: Ed Helms (Andy) and Craig Robinson's (Darryl) dynamic in this episode is pretty great. We get to see a supportive side to Andy who goes from being a caring nurturing friend to the tough-but-fair kick up the backside Darryl needs to get him out of his funk.

I see my role at WhatCulture the same way my wife sees my role as a lover: I contribute in a very small way, my presence is barely noticeable and I’m not entirely sure if the laughter is at me or with me.
