The Vampire Diaries Cast: Where Are They Now?

How is life after Mystic Falls treating the TVD crew?

The Vampire Diaries
The CW

The Vampire Diaries has been off our screens for nearly four years now but it never truly left the hearts and minds of its fans. The teen drama put The CW on the map, dominating it long before the network's formidable Arrowverse was even a thing and bringing in huge ratings along the way.

Premiering at a time when vampires had a resurgence in YA dramas (thanks for that, Twilight!), it was an overnight success for the network in 2009, as viewers eagerly tuned in to see Elena Gilbert get sucked into the supernatural madness involving boyfriend Stefan Salvatore and his dangerously broody (and just dangerous in general) brother Damon.

The show's viewership waned as it went on it but its popularity never truly faded away, and even now, four years after its conclusion, it has proven to be immensely popular on streaming services such as Netflix.

The Vampire Diaries itself may no longer be on our screens, but the one thing it left behind is an incredibly talented cast - many of whom got their first big break on the show. But what have they been up to since moving out of Mystic Falls? Well, let's find out...

13. Nina Dobrev

The Vampire Diaries
The CW

The heart of The Vampire Diaries, Elena Gilbert found herself caught between two vampire brothers from the very beginning of the show and that would go on to change the trajectory of her life forever.

Similarly, the show undoubtedly changed Nina Dobrev's life as the leading lady stuck with it for the majority of its run, choosing to depart for the seventh season before returning towards the end of the eighth and final offering.

Following the show's conclusion, she went on to appear in major films such as Flatliners, XXX: The Return of Xander Cage, Dog Days, Then Came You and the drama Run This Town. She subsequently returned to television for the short-lived sitcom Fam.

Needless to say, we'll be seeing a lot more of Dobrev in the future.
