Love him or hate him, no character has had the impact that The Governor had on the lives of Rick and his fellow survivors. While some fans may believe he overstayed his welcome after escaping season 3 alive, his ultimate war with the group changed the game, destroying the prison and scattering the survivors into the wind. Responsible for the deaths of characters like Axel, Milton, Andrea, Merle and Hershel, along with the slaughter of a number of his own people, The Governor's legacy is one that is still being felt by the survivors. As played by David Morrissey, who managed to effortlessly move the character between charming, ruthless and outright psychotic, the cycloptic antagonist's significance on the series can't be denied. Despite being a divisive character among fans of the series -- truly, this is one character who people either loved seeing on screen or hated wasting time with -- the damage he wrought upon the survivors as a group and as individuals is, so far, larger than anyone viewers have met yet has accomplished.
