The Walking Dead: 10 Best Antagonists So Far

5. Lizzie

It would be too easy to label Lizzie as simply "crazy," but as a child growing up in the world of The Walking Dead with a warped worldview and a clear set of pre-existing developmental issues, she's representative of some of the worst things that can happen to people, particularly children, living in such an environment. Her mental problems untreated and swept aside in favour of characters telling her that she just needed to get used to the world, Lizzie's view of the walkers as people and skewed idea of right and wrong spiraled out of control over the course of the fourth season. After luring countless walkers to the prison fences with food, killing rabbits and nearly smothering Judith to death, Lizzie's issues finally came to a head in The Grove, with the character taking her own sister's life without remorse to prove to Carol and Tyreese that she'd come back still a person. In the end, Carol would take Lizzie out for a fateful look at the flowers, but the weight of the young girl's death continued to have a lasting impact on Carol and Tyreese going forward. Though she could never be labelled a villain, Lizzie's issues and outward insanity had proved time and again that she was a danger to herself and everyone else, providing the series' with one of its most complex antagonists.
