7. Rick Goes Vampire

One big turning point for Rick was his encounter with The Claimers gang. Daryl goes along with their group, but when they stumble upon Rick, Michonne and Carl, they threaten to kill the former and rape the latter two in what would have been a savage sequence for Season 4. Instead, Rick unleashes fury on the group leader Joe. He gruesomely bites Joe's neck, tearing through his throat and killing him instantly, before disemboweling another member of the group who threatened Carl. Rick takes their weapons and supplies, then moves on. It's a harrowing scene, but demonstrates just how far he's willing to go to protect his family. This really signalled that Rick meant business.
