5. Rick vs. Shane
Is there really a huge difference between Shane at the start of the show, and Rick at its current point? There's certainly some, but the gap has closed considerably as Rick grows into the new world. Shane adapted far quicker than anyone, and that caused massive conflict in the group. Shane and Lori's relationship after they presumed Rick to be dead proved to be a catalyst for the whole situation, and when Shane lured Rick into the woods, you just knew it wasn't going to end well for him. Watching the two men finally showing their true colours and standing toe-to-toe with each other is heart-breaking and tense. Shane is eventually stabbed after a cunning move by Rick, and Carl fires his gun at Shane's reanimated corpse. It was the start of Rick and Carl's real father-son bond that's still going strong.
