The Walking Dead: 10 Best Villains From The TV Show

5. Merle Dixon

Although Merle Dixon went out a hero, attempting to take matters into his own hands in a valiant effort to rid the world of The Governor, he was still bad to the bone, and wasted no opportunity in proving it during his tenure on the show's first and third seasons. We were introduced to Merle as a trigger-happy racist with no desire to work with people of colour, despite being in a fatal situation together. Even after being handcuffed to a rooftop, Merle refused to play nice, using derogatory terms towards Andrea. An unholy amount of badassery later, Merle would cut off his own hand and hightail it out of Atlanta. It wasn't until his return, however that we saw the depths that Merle would sink to for his own benefit. When he came across his old pal Glenn and Maggie while the pair were on a run, it didn't take long for Merle to torture Glenn in hopes of finding information on where the rest of the group, including Merle's own brother, were hiding out. Later on, shortly after escaping Woodbury as one of the "good guys", Merle didn€™t hesitate to relieve an innocent family of their supplies until Daryl stopped him, and as previously stated, was fine with delivering Michonne to Woodbury until he had a change of heart. Merle may have come around during his final hours, perhaps just in the interest of Daryl's safety, but it's undeniable that he was a vindictive, relentless villain with no respect for humanity. It was sad to see the wonderful Michael Rooker go down, but in the long run, due to his violent tendencies, Merle Dixon's death was probably a good thing for our survivors.
