The Walking Dead: 10 Characters You Probably Forgot About
7. Axel
Axel was a classic case of caught in the wrong place, at the wrong time. Thrown into prison for a crime he didn't commit, then shot in the head by a mad man he'd never met.
We are introduced to Axel in season three, as one of four convicts trapped inside the newly discovered prison. The nicest of the four, Axel genuinely seems excited to finally see some new faces. He was of course, blissfully unaware of the absolute horrors that had engulfed the world.
His reason for being arrested in the first place is tragically funny. He robbed a store with a water pistol and the police found him hiding at his brother's house. The police didn't think anyone could be stupid enough to do such a thing, so they searched the house. They found his brother's gun and the rest is history.
Though he was only in the show a short while, Axel was a very likeable character. A highlight being his ill-fated pursuit of Carol. Despite initially believing she was a lesbian due to her short hair, the pair grew closer and were even seen flirting.
A long awaited romantic interest for Carol was finally within reach -- then the Governor shot Axel in the head and ruined it, like he ruined everything.
