1. America Is The Only Affected Country

One of the most mind-blowing ways the show could end would be with the realisation that it's just North America in complete ruin. There's no official, detailed confirmation that it has spread across the Atlantic, or at least not to the extent of destroying those countries completely, even if the French were involved in finding a cure before the US lost contact. North America could be lost entirely (as well as the U.S., we've seen Mexico has largely fallen on Fear The Walking Dead), though Europe and beyond could have coped with the calamity. It would alter the entire world, but their societies would still be functioning. Fans never have to see the other nations, but what if the entire show builds to a climax, before a sudden landing by European troops finally coming to exterminate the remaining population?

The troops could individually wipe everyone from the face of America, Rick and Co. included, in order to begin the rebuilding process. Or they could even send over a jet, armed with a deadly nuke to decimate the country, sparing the world from the disease. It's a crazy, crazy theory, but there's no way of ruling it out just yet. And at the end of the day, The Walking Dead has pulled off so many shocking stunts, the grand finale needs to hold a nuclear-sized bombshell to drop on the audience for it to make an impact.
