Near the end of the second half of season two a shocking discovery is made about Hershel's farm. Maggie gives Glenn a note asking where he'd like to meet up for some secret lovin. Unfortunately he suggests the worst possible spot: the barn, which Glenn discovers is holding a bunch of zombies. Glenn, being one of the more rational members of the group, doesn't greet this revelation with much enthusiasm. Who knew Glenn's hopes of porking the farmer's daughter would lead to a discovery of moronic proportions? It's not exactly controversial to say that stashing flesh-craving living corpses in your barn is a pretty stupid move. One slip up and your entire family is lunch for the undead. But that reasoning was no match for Hershel's foolhardy belief that they could be cured. Seriously, one good look at a zombie should tell you that there is no cure for being, well, dead. That barn was a ticking time bomb, and while Shane's brashness was stupid in its own way, it did eliminate the ever-present threat while also ending the whole Sophia fiasco. Most importantly, it opened Hershel's eyes to the truth, which lead to him becoming a more sympathetic character as seasons went on. Still, no matter how likeable he became, he'd never be able to live down the time he kept zombies in his own barn. That's just not right.
