The Walking Dead:10 Important Things To Remember Before Season 8

7. Sherry Is On The Run

Negan believes Sherry to be dead. But we know better.

Dwight told Dr. Carson that he tracked down his former wife and shot her as she entered a pack of walkers, intelligently painting it as a mercy killing to make it more plausible.

In reality, Dwight could never locate Sherry (because riding a motorcycle and carrying a crossbow doesn’t make you Daryl, son). Instead, he found only a farewell letter, which included a confession that she was the one who set Negan’s prised prisoner free, and her wedding rings, which Dwight hides in an empty cigarette packet.

The emotion pouring out of Dwight as he gazed upon photos of the pair in cheerier times, and his subsequent betrayal of Negan showed that he still loved Sherry, whose words in that goodbye note suggested that there was still hope for them.

Dwight's happiness in season eight may not be determined by who wins the war, but by whether he can find Sherry and rekindle the love they once shared.
