The Walking Dead: 10 Mistakes That Must Be Learnt From In Season 6
9. Introducing Characters Only To Kill Them Off
This is a slightly different point to the race thing, but with similar echoes. At the beginning of Season 4, the show's creators had a big problem: after The Governor was defeated, he left behind a group of helpless children and invalids. Now, we wouldn't be so keen on Rick and co. if they left them for dead, so they had to take them in. The major issue with that was that it left way too many characters on the show, effectively acting as dead weight on the survivors fans had come to know over the previous seasons. They had to go, so half of Season 4 was spent killing them off in a way that saved the gang of protagonists from responsibility. Hence the deadly flu epidemic. It's a good thing the population of Alexandria was relatively small by the end of Season 5, otherwise this problem might have happened all over again. Hopefully the writers will give enough space for fans to get to know the new characters this time.
