It seems an age since Shane left the scene. It feels like a different world, and in many respects, it is. But one of the things you will remember about Rick's best friend-turned-hated enemy is the weapon he carried. Shane's shotgun can be seen in plenty of his major scenes, and in many ways the gun summed up his character. Deadly, dangerous, protective, but ultimately flawed when the problems began to pile up. Shane was a no-nonsense leader for the group, something that Rick has had to learn in moderation. Shane just adapted to the world far too quickly for the others to keep up.
