The Walking Dead: 10 Reasons It's The Most Annoying Show On TV

5. The Governor

Guv As early as the first season, those who had read the comic books were talking up the Governor as a character to look forward to. His back-story was detailed in two prequel novels by original creator Robert Kirkman. In those books (the first one is a must-read), we see how Phillip Blake transforms into the monstrous governor. He's sinister and terrifying, someone you absolutely don't want to cross paths with. But in the show he's been a profound disappointment. The role was miscast with the otherwise talented David Morrisey (John Hawkes or Tom Savini would have been much better choices), and whereas in the books he's a psychotic monster, in the show he's just kind of a d*ck - more of your run-of-the-mill TV creep than post-apocalyptic warlord. To his credit, now he's returned, the show is making better use of him. His psychotic actions in Dead Weight proved that he's once again snapped and become a horrifically pragmatic leader, and though some might've found his re-descent jarring quick, we're all hoping he can deliver the goods in the mid-season finale. After all, it can't be as anti-climactic as Welcome To The Tombs.
