The Walking Dead: 10 Romances We Could Have Done Without
8. Lori And Shane
The Lori and Shane affair was supposed to be one of the biggest plot devices of the early seasons. But, in reality, it sucked, because nobody was really invested in what Lori did unless they liked Rick and cared about the pair's marriage - and a whole load of people did not.
Sure, Rick was the protagonist, and some watchers enjoyed his anti-hero hogwash, but overall it wasn't that surprising that the whole Lori and Shane thing didn't divide fans like they were supposed to. Rick just wasn't worth feeling sorry for.
Plus, Shane was a pretty cool character (he was also a psycho, but that's what made him entertaining), and his whole deal with Lori just didn't make sense. Why was he so obsessed with her? She was awful.
The relationship between Lori and Shane would have worked if she or Rick had been more likeable. In fact, scrapping it altogether and having Shane focus more on his relationship with Carl would have been better.
Surely Rick losing his son to Shane would have made it much more dramatic? Rick would have hated his whole father-figure thing taken from him, so it would have made more sense for Shane to go after Carl more than Lori.
