The Walking Dead: 10 Romances We Could Have Done Without
5. Rick And Michonne
In the beginning, fans were psyched to see Rick and Michonne get together. The tension had been brewing for months and it seemed set that these two were gonna hook up and live happily ever or whatever the equivalent of that would be in an apocalyptic hellhole.
Finally, in Season 6, they shared their first kiss but it wasn't as dramatic and explosive as we had originally hoped. In fact, it was kind of sour and we soon realized that Michonne deserved a whole lot better.
The Walking Dead is nothing without Michonne and in some ways she is much more vital to the franchise than Rick. In the comic books, Michonne and Rick never got together although they do engage in some serious flirting. Instead, the two are considered good friends and even more importantly, great allies.
Obviously, a heterosexual man and a heterosexual woman cannot be friends in the real world so The Walking Dead television show forced them together.
As a result, it put the independent and unique Michonne in the shadow of the show's "hero" Rick, all while simultaneously destroying hours and hours of character development and badassness.
