The Walking Dead: 10 Things Season 6 Has Got Right (So Far)

1. Practical Effects

Almost everything on this list could be debated, swapped around, or substituted depending on who you talk to, but the most undeniable achievement on The Walking Dead is the ground-breaking practical effects. Those walkers are genuinely some of the most realistic 'monsters' we've seen on big or small screens for years. TV shows can often lose their edge when it comes to big scenes as the special effects look cheap and nasty compared to blockbuster movies; The Walking Dead itself can be accused of that with the CDC explosion. However, when it comes to creating 'real' zombies, the show is unparalleled. Season 6 has been peak walker time for the show, with sludge walkers, skeletal walkers, peeling fleshy chunk walkers, massively rotten walkers and all manner of nastiness. I've said it multiple times before, but the practical effects team deserves every bit of praise for turning the walkers into a genuine, living, meaty presence as opposed to one big animated mess.
