The Walking Dead: 10 Things That Happen After The War With Negan

4. Rick Forms An Uneasy Alliance With Negan

Negan's two-year imprisonment inspires a change in him that many refuse to see, for obvious reasons. There's a subtle hint of him wanting to make amends for some of the things he's done in the past, but could this be an elaborate ruse?

He goes to great lengths to win Rick's trust when the war with The Whisperers breaks out, advising the former sheriff on leadership matters and later decapitating the enemy leader Alpha and presenting him with the severed head.

Negan agrees to fight on the frontlines for Team Rick in exchange for his freedom, under the promise of instant death if he dares to double cross his former rival.

He remains true to his word, although it always feels like Negan could betray Rick at any minute during their uneasy alliance, which remains in place in the latest issue.

Whether this is the same path Jeffrey Dean Morgan's character on the show takes remains to be seen. It all comes down to whether the show deviates from the comics and kills him off during season 8's war, something that isn't out of the question.
