The Walking Dead: 10 Things We Have To See In The Final Season
9. A Spin-Off Crossover
With the introduction of the first Walking Dead spin-off, Fear the Walking Dead, the franchise's timeline has become somewhat difficult to understand, especially given the fact that no years have ever been explicitly mentioned and no one (for obvious reasons) is keeping tabs on how long they've been living in the new world.
That being said, there are hints that The Walking Dead and its biggest spin-off are fairly close together, especially when you consider the characters that have appeared on both shows (Morgan Jones, Dwight, Sherry) and their reliance on time jumps as a narrative technique.
It stands to reason, then, that the two shows would eventually crossover before they came to an end. As noted, TWD's eleventh installment will be its last, and though Fear has yet to be given an endgame, it seems like a brilliant idea to have the intrepid survivors from both shows bump into each other down the road.
There have been numerous Easter eggs within Fear linking it to the main show, including a direct reference to the Whisperer leader Beta and Rick's helicopter escape, but as of yet the likes of Alicia Clark and Victor Strand have yet to meet up with the communities around Washington D.C. To see that happen, even for a brief scene or two, would go a long way in the name of welcome fan service.
