9. Walker Safety Poster

Way back in 2010, ahead of the launch of AMC's TV series, the channel's official website featured a publicly available safety notice that outlined the dangers of Walkers, and the symptoms that the general public should be aware of, in case someone close to them becomes infected, or starts to act strangely. The infographic is not available on the site in its original post position - which required users to search "safe zone" in the site's search bar - but it has been preserved elsewhere, including below. There is typically no use of the word "zombie," which neither the comic book nor the show have ever used - preferring other linked terms like walker, geek and the herd - but the symptoms and the behaviour described is very much familiar of the established tropes of the genre, including violence, a lack of coordination and the appearance of drunkness. Worryingly, actual inebriation seems to tick all of the symptom check boxes. The poster also hinted at the development of a medical treatment that "may ameliorate the Walker's violent impulses and attacks."
