The Walking Dead: 15 Most Shocking Moments

14. Lizzie The Killer (Season 4)

The Walking Dead Michonne
AMC

After Lizzie (Brighton Sharbino) and Mika's (Kyla Kenedy) father died of the mystery illness infecting the prison, Carol became their adoptive mother. However, Lizzie's mind wasn't really in the game.

Lizzie is portrayed as a rather disturbed individual, and one could expect that her lack of comprehension of the post-apocalyptic hellscape she now dwells in is something that many kids would deal with, the difference is though, is that Lizzie truly showed some sinister traits, appearing polite and altruistic to the adults and fellow survivors, whilst torturing animals.

After the prison falls, Lizzie, Mika, Carol, Tyreese (Chad L. Coleman), and baby Judith flee and hide in an abandoned house, where Lizzie's mind deteriorates further. She is seen toying with a walker, almost as if she's playing tag with it, which is in an attempt to show that they are not a threat to people, and are just different.

This culminates in Lizzie killing her younger sister, to prove to Carol and Tyreese that she'll come back and won't be a threat, and her demeanour being neutral, and oddly optimistic whilst delivering this line is extremely unsettling, especially when she reveals she planned to kill Judith for the same effect.

Carol decides to take Lizzie to the field, and tells her to look at the flowers (akin to Lennie in Of Mice and Men), and kills her, as she can't be trusted around people anymore.
