The Walking Dead: 15 Most Shocking Moments
9. Jerry The Executioner (Season 8)
The war against the Saviors had many casualties in all camps, but the Kingdom arguably suffered the biggest losses.
Most of their forces were killed in one fell swoop by a 50 calibre machine gun, which sends Ezekiel (Khary Payton) into a huge identity crisis because of how his orders got so many people killed.
He runs into a Savior named Gunther (Whitmer Thomas) who quickly becomes extremely unlikable. He tortures Ezekiel, and constantly berates him, threatening to kill him and bring him back to the Sanctuary fence. Though Ezekiel attempts to co-operate when the walkers start to swarm, Gunther chooses instead to save his own skin, and plans to execute the King and escape. Just then, a battle cry is heard, and the shot cuts to Gunther's body being split in two by Jerry, Ezekiel's comical right-hand man.
Though Jerry's loyalty was never questioned, his murderous side really showed at that point, delivering a brutal kill and rescuing Ezekiel from certain death.
